How to Shim a Granite Countertop

Q.我和我的妻子granite countertops installed. First, we need some shim work completed, and the guy doing the shimming said the shims would be visible beneath the counter. How do we cover up the shims? Is it typical to use some sort of molding underneath the counter and at the top of the cabinet?

A.The countertop should not be shimmed. For granite countertops, the cabinets should be completely level across the top. Any shimming should be done at the bottom of the cabinets—not the top—so the countertop can sit on a perfectly level surface.
